Eyes… They are the most important organs that connect us
to life. Many patients from many other countries are being
successfuly treated in modern hospitals in Turkey,
including laser and other eye operations. You can get rid
of your glasses and lenses in 10 minutes with new eye
surgery technology, LASIK (Laser Assisted In Situ
Keratomileusis). Lasik is a refractive eye surgery
operation for correcting the vision in order to reduce a
person’s dependency on glasses or contact lenses. Turkey
is well-equipped and cheap for laser treatments. The
clinics in Turkey have accomplished numerous laser
operations from all over the world is becoming a center of
attraction for eye surgery.
Sample Itinerary for Lasik
Arrival day
You take off from any international airport. Tourka staff
will welcome you at Istanbul airport by holding up a sign
stating your name. They will take you straight to the
hotel, After the hotel check-in, the staff will inform you
about your schedule for the next
four days and then you will be taken on a small tour
around Istanbul.
Treatment day
From the time you get to the eye clinic it will take about
two hours before you're done. If you use hard lenses dont
wear them at least 30 days before your lasik treatment. If
you use soft contact lenses you shouldn't wear them the
week before the lasik treatment. Use your glasses instead.
In some cases a last eye examination will be done and then
you get a soothing pill which will help you relax. The
results from the preexamination will be controlled by an
optician who will also program the laser with your
treatment values. The doctor explains
the different steps and what you should bear in mind
afterwards. You get to wear a hospital uniform and then
you will be washed around your eyes.
When you enter the treatment room you will get some eye
drops, which will remove the pain for the next hours. A
cloth will be placed over your face and your eye lashes
will be taped so that they wont get in the way. To get a
clear treatment area and so you wont blink during the
treatment, an eyelid holder will be used. It can feel
uncomfortable in the beginning but after a short while you
wont even know its there.
A special vacuum ring is placed over the eye and after
just twelve seconds a thin flap of the cornea is made and
is folded back. You might feel a light pressure against
the eye and during the actual laser treatment you wont see
a thing. After just one minute the treatment is done and
the flap is put back in place where it'll attach itself.
Since vision recovery is very fast, most people can have
the treatment on both eyes at the same time.
After the treatment you get some eye drops and a temporary
bandage. When everything is done, you get to sit in the
waiting room for about half an hour. When the bandage is
taken off the doctor will examine your eyes and after that
you will be given a
small bottle of eye drops to use the next 10 ten days. Use
dark sunglasses until the post-examination is made.
When the anastesia wears off the eye might sting and tear
alittle but it goes away within a few hours. Most people
feel little or no discomfort.
Post examination
The day after the treatment your eyes are examined and
your vision is tested. Most patients have by now vision
acceptable for driving.
The first three days after the treatment you should avoid
soap, mascara and rubbing your eyes. Be sure to use
sunglasses when in sun light. Stay away from bathing in
swimming pools the first week. In purpose of precaution
and for faster healing of your eyes
you'll receive eye drops that you should use for ten days
after the treatmet.
