DAY 1 (Saturday)
Departure in the morning and drive on to Hereke, the cozy town where old Ottoman silk rug factory is located. Most of the rugs that are still available in most of the palaces that adorn Istanbul had been woven in this small town. Even today this spot is widely known for its most quality Hereke silk carpets. Then continue to Iznik, ancient Nicea, the city where the seventh council of the Christianity was held in 786, to visit St. Sophia Museum from the 4th century B.C. and the Green Mosque. Iznik was the ceramic centre of the Ottoman Empire during the 16th and 17th centuries. Most of the imperial mosques in Istanbul like Blue Mosque and Suleymaniye Mosque were ornamented with the tiles made in Iznik. Iznik tile works are amongst the most popular products at the well known auction companies all around the world. Thereafter drive on to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century, and a major spa center. Overnight (L, D).
DAY 2 (Sunday)
In the morning wander through the covered market with its local cotton goods, and Koza Han, the silk cocoon caravanserai, with shops selling beautiful silks and brocades. Visit the Ottoman complex to see the Grand Mosque, the Green Mosque, considered to be one of the finest examples of early Ottoman architecture, and the Green Mausoleum, the tomb of Sultan Mehmet I. This is Bursa' s loveliest building, with its spectacular tile work. Bursa is also famous for its textile industry and top quality textile products are exported to many countries all around the world. Then drive to Yalova to board on the ferry to cross the Marmara Sea and transfer to the hotel or airport (B, L).
